7. Xiamen Riyuegu Hot Spring Resort Communities

This place is huge – like a hotel buffet where you can shop endlessly for what/ how you want to enjoy spa/ hotspring. You will need at least 3 hrs to eat, rest and spa there. Resort is located far from the Island, but they provide shuttle bus from Xiamen Island.

Four great things about it:
1. The vast outdoor space with the endless hotspring wells,
2. It’s not crowded at all,
3. The endless choices of hot spring dips that is flavored with herbs, fruits, flowers etc. It feel funny that they put herbs into the pristine water, but after a few dips, you realise that the herbs (e.g dong quai) actually helps in the breathing and relaxation,
4. The endless sauna rooms.

9. Spanish-style town near Xiamen

Have you been longing for a journey across the sea to see the beautiful scenery abroad, and enjoy the touch of the European-style town? Surprisingly, near Xiamen, there is a Spanish-style town 卡达凯斯. This special town卡达凯斯 (Cadaques) is located in Zhangzhou port. You can find there the unique waterscape and experience special romantic atmosphere, similar to the one from Paris. Unlike other tourist resorts in China, there are no crowds, but only the pure beautiful scenery. Sitting in the extensive lawn, facing the sea will bring you a long sense of comfort and ease. Near the lawn, there is a 2.5-kilometer long, seafront footpath where you can walk and watch the sunset with your lover. Time pass very slowly there, life become simple and happy, and troubles disappear insensibly…

10. Riguang Mountain

Sunlight Rock is the most famous scenic spot in Gulangyu and is the highest point of the island. Hence, hordes of tour groups would head to this attraction. Entrance fee is 60 rmb. The highlight is climbing to the top of the mountain, not too strenuous though certain sections of the stairs are rather narrow. Initially the path up is wide, with 2 sets of stairs, one for ascending and one for descending. It can bring to the viewing platform close to the summit. We recommend to stop at the viewing platform just below the summit. The view is much different for the 20+ steps at the summit.

The above places are very popular locations visited by domestic and overseas tourists. During holidays, they are very busy locations. Most of the attractions are free-entry, or for a very low fee. Beware of fake tickets and scum proposing an “alternative” entry or transport to avoid the queue. Xiamen offers a lot more interesting places than just those listed in the article.
